Infrastructure is basic aminities avaliable for the society for their economic and social development.

CHARACTERISTICS OF INFRASTRUCTURE

1. High Demand
2. Shared/Equal/non-excludable use
3. Capital Intensive
4. Long Implementation and Economic (utilisation) Life
4. Government's Priority/Intervention
5. Cost Efficiency upon building

TYPES OF INFRASTRUCTURE
Broadly Infrastructure can be divided in two types.

1.Economic infrastructure :

 i. e. Transportation, Bridge, Hydro, Irrigation , Cable car, Telecommunications etc  

2. Social Infrastructure :
Hospital, school, universities, amusement parks, parks etc.

However as per the functions or its utilisation, it can be categorised in different types as follows.

1. Community Facilities : Water supply, sewerage, Waste Disposal, Public Restrooms

2. Traffic Facilities : Road, Railways, Harbors, Airports.

3. Disaster Prevention Facilities : River, Coast, Mountains, Fire Protection Facilities

4. Industrial Facilities : Agriculture, Forest, Fisheries and other Industries/Commercial Facilities

5. Energy Facilities : Power Gas and Oil Related Facilities.

5. Communication Facilities : Communication, Transmission lines

6. Urban Facilities : Underground Malls,  Leisure Facilities, Parks, Gardens etc.

7. Public Buildings : Cultural, Public Safety, Government Services, Hospitals

8. National Deffence Facilities

9. Environmental Facilities : Environmental impact Assessment, Gauging, Air Pollution Measurement etc.

Countries that aren't have both infrastructures in placed normally said under developed or developing nations.

Lack of those infrastructures means, low level of economic development, lower savings and investments, lower entrepreneurship development and employment, access of finance, education and lower happiness indexes etc and countries poor health conditions economically.

Every government throughout the world wishes to be better economic and social infrastructure in placed in their countries however having proper and developed infrastructure is hard and long time taking process.

Poor countries specially who have poor economic infrastructure also lacks social infrastructure. It means having proper and sound economic infrastructure means gradual development of social infrastructure. Many countries therefore intend to have roads, irrigation systems, better other transportation system, technology, bridges, sustainable energy etc and have financing billions of dollar to improve such infrastructure to provide their citizens better life.

Better infrastructure ensure better life of the country men's. Better access to all human needs including transport, technology, education, health, communication, agriculture, employment etc etc.
